From east to west, the beaches are located in: Hayama Town (3 beaches) / Zushi City (1 beach) / Kamakura City (3 beaches) / Fujisawa City (3 beaches) / Chigasaki City (1 beach) / Hiratsuka City (1 beach) / Oiso Town (1 beach) — for a total of 13 beaches.

Hayama Town
The beaches in Hayama Town, Shonan are: Morito Beach, Isshiki Beach, and Chojagasaki–Ohama Beach.
Morito Beach

Morito Beach is a popular seaside destination known for its wide sandy shore and calm, shallow waters, making it ideal for families and young visitors.
The beach offers stunning views of the torii gate and lighthouse on Najima Island, as well as Enoshima and even Mt. Fuji on clear days.
During the summer swimming season, many beach houses (temporary seaside restaurants and facilities) line the shore, creating a lively atmosphere. Located next to Morito Daijinja Shrine, the area also features numerous restaurants beyond the beach houses.

Isshiki Beach

Isshiki Beach offers a peaceful, almost private-beach atmosphere, surrounded by Mt. Sangaoka and the Imperial Villa grounds.
Rocky areas on both ends of the beach allow visitors to enjoy tide-pooling and exploring marine life. In 2013, it was selected as one of the “World’s 100 Best Beaches,” making it one of Hayama’s most popular seaside spots.
Please note that parts of the beach are close to residential areas. Barbecues are prohibited due to concerns about smoke, odors, and noise affecting nearby residents.

Chojagasaki–Ohama Beach

Chojagasaki–Ohama Beach is a scenic beach offering panoramic views of Enoshima, the Izu Peninsula, and Mt. Fuji. It has been selected as one of the “50 Scenic Spots of Kanagawa.”
During summer, Ohama Beach attracts many visitors who come to enjoy marine sports. On clear days, you can also see Mt. Fuji and the Hakone mountain range in the distance, making it a spectacular location for swimming.
The cape extending into the sea is another distinctive feature, and the sunset views here are especially popular among visitors. The beach is also known as a surfing spot and remains a favorite among locals and tourists alike.

Zushi City
The only beach in Zushi City, Shonan is Zushi Beach (Zushi Kaigan Swimming Beach).
Zushi Beach (Zushi Kaigan Swimming Beach)

Zushi Beach has once again earned the international environmental certification “Blue Flag” for 2025, following its certification in 2024. The Blue Flag is awarded to beaches, marinas, and tourism boats that meet strict environmental, safety, and sustainability standards. During the season, the Blue Flag will be raised, symbolizing the beach’s commitment to environmentally friendly and sustainable operations.
The beach is also well known for its vibrant beach houses, offering not only food and drinks but also marine activities such as jet ski rentals and banana boat rides.

Kamakura City
The beaches in Kamakura City, Shonan are: Zaimokuza Beach, Yuigahama Beach, and Koshigoe Beach.
Zaimokuza Beach

Zaimokuza Beach is a calm, shallow-water beach located in a sheltered bay. Among Kamakura’s three beaches, it has the longest shoreline and offers well-developed facilities, including numerous beach houses.
Situated at the easternmost end of Kamakura, its gently sloping shallow waters make it especially recommended for families with children.
In 2025, the popular children’s floating attraction, the “Water Roller,” will return! It is available for rental at the lifeguard station, but due to high demand, waiting times are expected. Arriving early is recommended.

Yuigahama Beach

Yuigahama Beach is located in the center of Kamakura’s three beaches and is the liveliest and most popular, known for its wide variety of beach houses.
Following 2024, accessibility improvements continue in 2025 with cooperation from Kanagawa Prefecture and the local beach association. The beach is becoming increasingly barrier-free, allowing wheelchair users to enjoy the seaside comfortably.
A boardwalk has been installed along the beach, and amphibious wheelchairs are available for rental at the lifeguard station. Additionally, the newly developed “Yuigahama Minna no Slope” provides direct access from Route 134 to the beach restrooms, further improving accessibility for wheelchair users.

Koshigoe Beach

Koshigoe Beach is located at the westernmost edge of Kamakura and is close to the beaches of neighboring Fujisawa City. It is less crowded and offers a calm, relaxed atmosphere, with scenic views of Enoshima and the nearby fishing port.
The nearby street-running section of the Enoden (Enoshima Electric Railway) adds to the charm of the area, making it a great spot not only for swimming but also for strolling and sightseeing.

Katase Higashihama Beach

Katase Higashihama Beach offers magnificent views of Enoshima and Mt. Fuji and is lively with marine sports activities. Its calm, shallow waters make it popular with families and young visitors. It has also been selected as one of the “55 Best Swimming Beaches in Japan.”
Conveniently located near the city center and train stations, it is widely loved as an easily accessible seaside destination.

Katase Nishihama–Kugenuma Beach

Katase Nishihama–Kugenuma Beach, like Higashihama, offers spectacular views of Enoshima and Mt. Fuji and is one of Japan’s most famous beaches, bustling year-round with marine sports enthusiasts.
The beach houses are well-equipped, attracting families and young visitors alike. The shoreline stretches approximately 1 kilometer, with a wide expanse of shallow sandy beach. Adjacent Kugenuma Beach also features permanent beach volleyball courts.

Tsujido Beach

Tsujido Beach is a smaller, quieter beach known as a hidden gem where families can relax and enjoy swimming in a peaceful atmosphere.
Located between the popular Southern Beach (Chigasaki) and Katase Kaigan, it offers a more private feel. On clear days, visitors can enjoy stunning views of Mt. Fuji to the west and Enoshima to the east, making it an open and refreshing spot to relax both body and mind.

Chigasaki City
The only beach in Chigasaki City, Shonan is Southern Beach Chigasaki.
Southern Beach Chigasaki

Southern Beach Chigasaki was originally opened in 1898 and was renamed “Southern Beach Chigasaki” in 1999. From the beach, visitors can enjoy views of Eboshiiwa Rock and Izu Oshima Island straight ahead, Enoshima to the east, and Mt. Fuji to the west.
The beach is open every year from the first Saturday of July through August 31. It has also appeared on the cover of a famous band’s CD jacket. The beach is especially well known as a popular photo spot featuring the iconic “Southern C” monument, often called the “Ring of Good Fortune” for relationships.

Hiratsuka City
The only beach in Hiratsuka City, Shonan is Shonan Bellmare Hiratsuka Beach Park Beach.
Shonan Bellmare Hiratsuka Beach Park Beach

Shonan Bellmare Hiratsuka Beach Park Beach was established following the Kanagawa Prefecture–hosted event “Surf ’90.” In July 1995, the Shonan Hiratsuka Beach Center opened, providing facilities such as shops and changing rooms.
Please note that during certain times of the year, the venomous jellyfish known as the Portuguese man-of-war (Physalia physalis) may be found near the beach. Do not touch them if spotted.
The beach park is equipped with courts for beach volleyball, beach soccer, and beach rugby. Equipment rentals are also available at the Beach Center, so visitors are encouraged to make use of these facilities.

Oiso Town
The only beach in Oiso Town, Shonan is Oiso Beach.
Oiso Beach

Oiso Beach was established in 1885 by Dr. Matsumoto Jun, former Surgeon General of the Imperial Japanese Army, and is known as Japan’s first swimming beach.
With Oiso Port Parking located nearby, it is especially popular among families and couples. The beach is also within walking distance from JR Oiso Station, making it easily accessible.
The coastline consists of three distinct areas:
Kitahama Beach (featuring beach tennis courts)
Terugasaki Beach (a scenic viewpoint for Mt. Fuji)
Koyurugi no Hama (a quiet shoreline known for its natural “sazare-ishi” pebbles)
Each area offers its own unique charm. One public shower is available year-round, and there are three public restrooms (one permanent facility and two available during the swimming season only).
